RE

“Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behaviors. Keep your behaviors positive because your behaviors become your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny.”

Mahatma Gandhi

Religious Education follows the Wakefield Agreed Syllabus guidelines and is designed to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental development of pupils at West Bretton School. It is also designed to prepare pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life. RE Teaching will be designed to respect understanding and tolerance for those who adhere to the different faiths represented in our society, whilst recognising our broadly Christian heritage and traditions.

We teach RE through a creative approach and encourage children to question, philosophise and ponder. Our RE curriculum is enhanced by visits to different religious places such as Wakefield Cathedral and Wakefield Central Mosque and visitors to our school.
