“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”
Benjamin Franklin
Our curriculum provides rich, creative, hands-on experiences for the children, as well as developing and reinforcing the basic skills of English, maths and ICT. We have created a curriculum which links subjects together enabling children to use transferable knowledge and skills. It meets and exceeds the requirements of the New National Curriculum, which commenced in September 2014, as well as preparing children for life long learning. The Arts, PSHE (Personal Social & Health Education), the Community (local, national and international) and Open Futures are our four curriculum drivers. These were chosen by our school community, specifically for our pupils and they permeate throughout each topic.
We believe in ensuring our curriculum is broad and balanced and we seek to find everyone’s talent. All pupils learn French and we are proud of our work on the Arts and with sport. All our children are given opportunities to represent school in sporting competitions and each child learns to play a brass instrument.
Our curriculum is enhanced by visits, visitors into school, concerts and performances. All children have the opportunity to attend a residential alongside a neighbouring school.
Personal and social development lies at the heart of everything we do. We strive to create well rounded, confident individuals who are well prepared for the future.
